Mission Viejo, CA. May 8, 2006 - Falkner Livingston Racing set a new Land Speed Record at the historic El Mirage Dry Lake in Southern California on May 6th, 2006. The FL Team attended the event with their Team Makita Suzuki GSXR 750 with the goal of testing the motorcycle in preparation for the upcoming Bonneville Speed Week event in August 2006. Rider Paul Livingston set a new record on the 1.3 mile course with a top timed speed of 179.271mph for the class 750 APS/F.
Team principal Rod Falkner was pleased with the motorcycle's speed. He said "Our goal today was just to take the motorcycle through tech inspection and make a shake down run at the higher desert altitudes with this engine tune. Although a record wasn't our goal, today's test parameters allowed for the rider to take the motorcycle up to but not to exceed 180mph."
The FL Team Makita Suzuki GSXR 750 Motorcycle was equipped with a Nitrous Express Kit including two 2.5 nitrous bottles tucked under the motorcycle's tail section. A Makita rechargeable battery powered the bottle warmers used the bring the nitrous gas up to optimum operating temperature.
"The Micron pipe made all the difference" said rider Livingston. "It allowed us to maximize the performance of the entire system, and rocket up to the 180mph speed in less than 1 mile".
Other performance modifications included a Hyperpro Steering Damper, Bridgestone Battleax tires, a custom Catalyst Composite Body, Dumonde Tech Racing Lubricants, Garmin GPS, K&N Filters, Micron Exhaust, NGK Sparkplugs, Power Commander, Pit Bull, Race Tech, Spider Grips, SportVue Head's Up Display, and Sprocket Specialist gearing.
